As everyone knows stress is a major part of life. Everyone has some sort of stress in his or her lives, especially in the workplace. Having stress at the workplace has many consequences. For example, it reduces productivity. Stress in the workplace also increases management pressures. When employees have a tremendous amount of stress, management must make up for the productivity lost and must keep on top of the employees to make sure they continue doing their jobs. Another consequence of stress in the workplace is physical illness. Many people who have lots of stress become physically ill. This is because the stress from work affects the performance of the brain, for example, memory loss, concentration and learning. It is shown that stress has triggered about 70% of doctor visits and 85% of all serious illnesses. All of these consequences from stress in the workplace can lead to bad publicity for the business, bad reputation and financial struggles.
A few ways to manage your stress are: understand the type of stressor that is affecting you, improve your diet, reduce toxin intake and exercise regularly. First, understanding the type of stressor that is affecting you is vital in order to remove it from your life. Take some time to think seriously about what it is that is stressing you out and begin steps to remove that stressor. Second, improving your diet is very important for your stress level to decrease. Try to improve your diet by including more B vitamins and magnesium and making sure you are eating a balanced and healthy diet. Third, reduce toxin intake. As we all know tobacco and alcohol are not good for our bodies, although they may reduce your stress for a while they are actually building up in you body and making you more susceptible to stress. Finally, regularly exercising helps to burn up your adrenaline and produce helpful chemicals that will bring with them positive feelings.
